ISA Certified Arborists have met a rigorous standard as set by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) which includes passing a thorough examination, 3+ years full-time practical experience, and adherence to a code of ethics.

Administered by ISA, the TRAQ program sets forth a standardized method for assessing tree risk which takes into account the safety of both people and property. Qualified candidates must attend a 2-day educational course and pass a ½ day assessment, including both written and field components.
A comprehensive certification for tree workers, candidates must have preexisting training in aerial rescue, CPR and First Aid. The exam process includes a written test on topics including safety, cabling, pruning, rigging, and tree biology. If the candidate passes the written exam he moves on to a progressive practical exam in which he must demonstrate expertise in knots, climbing, use of gear, and other skills critical to safe tree work.
An extensive testing process is required for candidates to become certified as aerial lift operators. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in CPR and first aid, pass written and practical exams, produce proof of proper vehicle registration and insurance, pass a thorough truck inspection, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of trees.
